We are currently seeking expressions of interest from an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artists to collaborate with to create artwork for our Reflect Reconciliation Plan 2024-2025.
What is a Reconciliation Plan?
BlueFit has received conditional approval for our first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). A RAP enables organisations to sustainably and strategically take meaningful action to advance reconciliation by outlining practical actions that will drive business activities . Based around the core pillars of relationships, respect and opportunities, RAPs provide tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, increasing economic equity and supporting First Nations self-determination.

Concept and Artwork Brief
We are looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artist who can create a unique and exclusive artwork for us that:
- Represents the spirit of reconciliation throughout our local community facilities and links to our vision, values, programs and services.
- Demonstrates artistic excellence
- Is original and forward thinking
- Artwork to also be supplied in digital format as well (file type to be discussed with successful artist)
- Integrates our BlueFit brand colouring
- Artwork represents the states in which we operate and the types of facilities and programs we deliver.
Terms and Conditions
The artist grants to BlueFit Group (BlueFit, Leisure Employment Australia & Southern Education) the right to use the work for organisational purposes such as, but not limited to documentation, marketing and promotion. The artwork will not be replicated or printed on items for sale without further consultation with the artist to discuss and confirm appropriate resale royalties.
Artist to provide any special/cultural conditions or restrictions relating to the artwork or its use including colour and cropping considerations.
The final artwork will be required in physical artwork and a hi-resolution digital scan of physical artwork. We will work with the artist on the different sizes and formats required at the time of artwork selection.
Fees & Charges
The maximum available budget is $5000 excluding GST
The fee for the artwork will cover:
- The design and production of a physical piece of artwork
- The design and production of the agreed high-resolution digital scan of the physical artwork (minimum 300 dpi), including any supplies and/or production costs.
- Use of the artist’s supplied biography (including the artist’s connection to an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island ation)
- Use of the artist’s supplied explanation or story outlining how the artwork represents the spirit of reconciliation throughout our facilities and local communities and the BlueFit mission and values.
- An initial briefing and regular process meetings with BlueFit
- A final meeting to discuss how to extract the key elements from the artwork to maintain their meaning
- Licensing for all future use and publication (in full or extract as per agreed artist direction and parameters) of the artwork by the BlueFit Group (BlueFit, Leisure Employment Australia and Southern Education) in any BlueFit Group organisations publications and associated materials.
- Opportunity for media including, but not limited to, interviews and photo shoot.
Location dependent allowance may be possible to cover the shipping and handling of the physical artwork produced to transport the artwork to our Site Support Office in Essendon, Victoria. To be discussed with successful artist.
Eligibility
The artist must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, be an Australian resident and have a connection to a Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island Nation. Shortlisted artists must provide confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity by means of an official Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander certificate or sign a statutory declaration. The artist will be required to have an Australian Business Number (ABN). All designs and concepts must be authentic and original work of the artist submitting the design.
Project Timeline
- Applications must be submitted by 11.59pm Sunday 11 August, 2024
- Shortlisted applicants will be contacted following the application deadline to discuss their artwork and concept
- BlueFit will inform the successful artist and unsuccessful applicants by Friday 23 August 2024
- Successful artist to complete artwork by including digital files supplied by Friday 27 September 2024
- The successful artwork will be publicly announced at the launch of our 2024 – 2025 Reconciliation Action Plan
Evaluation Process
Proposals will be evaluated by the BlueFit Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group and BlueFit Executive. Applications will be judged on but not limited to:
- Creative approach
- Interpretation of the meaning of reconciliation
- Artist identifying as a member of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Story that represents the spirit of reconciliation throughout our facilities and local communities and the BlueFit mission and values.
- BlueFit will notify all respondents in writing of the outcomes of their response to the EOI process
Expression of Interest (EOI) Requirements
- Supply a draft sketch of your concept
- Provide 2-3 examples of of previous artwork to display artistic style

- The design concept is accompanied by a written statement/story that represents the spirit of reconciliation throughout our facilities and local communities and the BlueFit mission and values.
- Confirmation you can meet the timeline (artwork to be completed by 27th September, 2024)
All EOI’s must be received in full via the closing date. Late or incomplete submissions won't be accepted.
