Imagine a gender equal world, free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where difference is valued and celebrated.
This International Women’s Day (IWD), we join the global movement to celebrate women’s achievements and reaffirm our commitment to advancing gender equality.
Observed for over 100 years, IWD belongs to everyone who believes in creating a more inclusive world. It’s a day to celebrate progress, raise awareness about ongoing challenges, and take action to drive meaningful change.
2026 Theme: #GiveToGain
This year’s theme, #GiveToGain, reminds us that when we invest in women, through opportunity, support, and advocacy, we all benefit. Giving our time, resources, and voices helps build stronger workplaces, stronger communities, and a more equitable future.
At Buderim Aquatic Centre, we are proud to support International Women’s Day by celebrating the women in our teams and communities and continuing our efforts toward greater equity and inclusion.
Meet Kaitlyn, Teah, Laura and Dakota
We’re proud to shine a spotlight on four incredible team members at Buderim: Kaitlyn, Teah, Laura, and Dakota. Across a range of roles, each plays a vital part in creating the safe, welcoming, and supportive environment our community loves.
For Kaitlyn, the inspiration to start a career in aquatics came from a desire to work where she could make a real difference. "Whether it’s teaching someone to swim, supporting members in their fitness and rehab journey, or ensuring the facility runs safely and smoothly, the most rewarding part is seeing people grow in confidence," she says. Being part of a community focused centre like Buderim makes the work even more special.
Advice for International Women’s Day
In honour of International Women’s Day, Dakota offers powerful advice for women looking to build confidence in the water: "Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Everyone has to start somewhere, and confidence builds through consistency." She encourages women to step outside their comfort zones and ask for support when needed, reminding them, "You belong in these spaces just as much as anyone else."
Supporting Each Other
The team doesn't just work together, they stay motivated together. Teah explains how they prioritise their wellbeing by participating in Adult Squad sessions outside of their usual roles. "Each of us has encouraged sisters, friends, and even our mums to come along and give it a try," Teah shares. They are incredibly proud of creating a supportive environment, both for each other and for women of all ages in the community.

Together, we can forge gender equality. Together, we #GiveToGain.
